Funding for the character's venture is a mysterious figure with lots and lots of money. It's unclear if they know more about Pokémon or just want to build a team of rampaging super fighters...
...probably the second, honestly.
With three new regions to play in and Pokémon from generations four through seven, there are plenty of familiar faces to meet as you battle new characters and find out what the heck is going on.
3. Pokémon GS Chronicles
Pokemon GS Chronicles is often considered the best of the best Pokemon GBA ROM hacks out there. Based on Gold and Silver, this version is basically a deeper version of the original adventures with exciting new features.
In short, it's the same story but with more Pokémon, new locations, and mega evolutions.
Everything gets better with Mega Evolutions!
Unlike some ROM cheats, GS Chronicles receives regular updates. We are talking about a lot of time spent fixing bugs that may appear and producing new content.
Also, there is always help available from the team behind it and from other users if you encounter any issues while playing the game.
If we had a retro dodo stamp of approval, I'd slap it on your screen in a heartbeat!
4. Pokémon Dark Ascent
Dark Rising might just be one of the most mind-blowing Pokemon GBA ROM cheats out there.
We've all dreamed of Pokémon (not like that; get your brain out of the gutter!), but Dark Rising takes things to a new level.
A Pokémon comes to you in a dream and asks you to help it save the world. If something like that really happened, I'd try to sleep 24/7 in the hopes of getting picked!
Oh, and your best friend in the game also had the same dream... coincidence?
Dark Rising isn't a great ROM, but it's still a great game for players to jump into without finishing it off too quickly. Play classic regions from Kanto to Unova and collect 380 Pokémon.
Fight to become the best trainer by fighting in gyms, solving puzzles, and all the other usual trials and tribulations of Pokémon RPGs.

5. Pokemon Light Platinum
We keep up the best GBA Pokemon ROM cheats with Pokemon Light Platinum Version, a spectacular reimagining of the original Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire games.
Normally, vanilla Pokemon games only allow you to move in one region. However, Light Platinum allows you to play in two regions: Zhery and Lauren.
There are so many different Pokemon from all previous regions in the Pokemon Series and Elite Four Rivals to defeat and tough Gym Leaders to compete with.
Oh, and did I mention that you can also travel between dimensions?
Yes, this is the ROM that always happens! Also, you end up participating in the Pokémon World Championships... pretty cool, right?
6. Pokemon Dark Scream
Pokemon Dark Cry jumps to the sixth position on our list of the best Pokemon GBA ROM hacks. Just like Dark Rising, this ROM has a pretty deep plot with some tricky twists.
After waking up in a strange cave, a shadow approaches you during a massive earthquake. You wake up again and realize that it was all just a dream... but that dream becomes more real than you can imagine.
Play in the new Trion region and learn what to do at each stage in a post called PokePaper.
Play cool mini-games, dive into side quests, and enjoy a new Pokémon adventure! It's one of our favorites and definitely one you should download!
7. Pokémon Gaia
Named after Earth Titaness, Pokemon Gaia is one of the best Pokemon Fire Red cheats with a secret twist that we can't get enough of.
I'm a big fan of the fact that you can climb walls and go underwater in this game. It's almost like a miniature BOTW, incredibly scaled down with Pokemon instead of Moblins.
Collect Pokémon from Kanto to Kalos, build the ultimate team of pocket warriors over the years, and battle with upgraded trainers in enhanced battles in incredible locations.
Plus, you can teach all those old Pokémon new abilities and even make them Mega Evolve!
8. Pokémon Liquid Crystal
Many of the ROM cheats on this list are pretty comprehensive, but Liquid Crystal feels like a leisurely stroll down memory lane accompanied by a hug of a warm marshmallow.
Instead of drawing players into a story that requires the utmost concentration, it feels more like a simple game, something you can tackle while listening to the radio or watching your favorite show.
A calmer brain, if you will.
Explore the new Orange Islands area, play in the original Johto and Kanto regions, and discover new features and time-sensitive areas thanks to the day/night system.

If you're looking for a mystery game that requires players to explore ancient ruins and find out why the world of Pokémon and the real world collide, then this is the game for you.
I realize this is a very specific request, but do it.
Choose one of five starter Pokémon as you collect and battle monsters from the Rankor, Tunod, and Johto regions.
There are also legendary villains to catch from all regions, including eight from Unova.
Talk about building the best team!
10. Ultrabright Gold Sigma Pokémon
Last but not least we have Pokemon Ultra Shiny Gold Sigma, a game based on not only Pokemon FireRed but also Gold, Silver and Crystal.
Basically all the best!
There are over 800 Pokémon to collect in this game, with characters ranging from the first to the seventh generation.
It is packed with modern features like Miracle Exchange and Mega Evolutions.
With new sprites, new evolution bricks, and new items to collect, this is a truly spectacular remake that pays homage to some of my favorite titles in the series while looking brand new.
